You know how you want your skiing to feel: confident, controlled, with your edges gripping and your turns flowing. But getting there on your own isn’t always easy. Our ski camps at SilverStar give you a full week of focused coaching, combining video analysis, targeted ski exercises and personal feedback to help you understand what’s holding you back—and how to change it. With time to practise and coaches who get to know your skiing, you can start putting the pieces together.

Jack’s Ski Club offers two main coaching routes in Canada: Technical Progression camps for intermediate to advanced skiers, and Performance Elite camps for advanced and expert skiers, including giant slalom. Both are about spending a proper week working on your skiing, with feedback you can actually use—and enjoying the mountain with people who are there for the same reason.

Why we love SilverStar for a ski improvement camp

SilverStar has the ingredients we look for in a coaching mountain: groomed terrain to build confidence, changes in pitch to test your technique, and enough variety to keep the week interesting. On-piste skiing—skiing prepared runs—is a big part of the appeal. You can work on a movement, repeat it, then take it onto a more demanding slope.

There’s also something lovely about finishing the day in a colourful mountain village rather than facing a long journey back to town. The skiing is the reason you come, but those easy evenings help make it a holiday too.

Our aim is plenty of useful laps, with time to try things and get feedback. SilverStar’s relaxed atmosphere is part of what draws us here. Lift queues still vary with holidays, weekends and conditions, so we plan around what the mountain gives us rather than promising a queue-free week.

Technical Progression: make your everyday skiing feel better

If you enjoy skiing but feel stuck doing the same thing every winter, this is the place to start. Our Canadian Technical Progression camps are aimed at intermediate to advanced skiers who want stronger foundations and more confidence.

We work on skills such as carving, short turns, balance, controlling speed on steeper terrain and adapting to different snow. Coaching and video feedback help connect what you feel on your skis with what you’re actually doing.

You should already be comfortable skiing independently and linking controlled parallel turns. If “intermediate” means something different to you, that’s completely normal—tell us which runs you enjoy and where you struggle, and we’ll help you check the fit.

Performance Elite: advanced skiing and giant slalom

For advanced and expert skiers, our Performance Elite camps bring a more demanding focus to carving, precision and performance, including giant slalom training.

GS gives your turns a clear purpose. The gates challenge your line, timing and ability to stay balanced while linking turns. You don’t have to be chasing a racing career to enjoy it: it’s an exciting way to challenge your skiing and discover where you can become more efficient.

Come ready to work, ask questions and try something that might take you outside your usual ski-holiday routine. Course sessions and terrain depend on mountain operations and conditions.

A chance to learn from coaches with Olympic experience

One of the most exciting parts of these camps is who you could be learning from. Mike Janyk, a three-time Olympian and World Cup medallist, is planned to coach on the Performance Elite camp. Tomio, whose background includes coaching with the Japanese men’s World Cup and Olympic slalom team, is planned for the Technical Progression camp.

That depth of experience is a big reason to join us. It’s the chance to ask questions, get a fresh perspective on your skiing and spend a week learning from coaches who have worked at the highest level of the sport. The goal is to turn that experience into clear, useful feedback for your own skiing.

The coaching line-up is planned and remains subject to confirmation. Meet the coaching team.

How do the groups work?

We plan to run more than one group where bookings allow, grouping skiers according to ability and goals. The final number and make-up of groups depend on who books. We’ll discuss your skiing before the camp so we can help you choose an appropriate option; we don’t promise a separate group for every level.

What about snow, weather and El Niño?

If snow reliability is high on your list this winter, SilverStar deserves a closer look. Its inland British Columbia setting, reputation for dry snow and excellent groomed terrain are a big part of why we choose it for our Canadian camps. Destination Silver Star reports around seven metres of fresh snowfall each season—a strong reason to put it on your shortlist.

We’re hearing more questions about El Niño and where to ski in Canada. NOAA’s October 2026 outlook indicates El Niño will continue to strengthen through the end of the year. That makes looking beyond the headline forecast worthwhile: a resort’s location, elevation and local conditions all matter.

For us, SilverStar’s appeal is the combination of natural snow, varied on-piste terrain and a mountain that suits a focused week of coaching. No resort can guarantee a particular week’s weather, but this is a place we’re excited to bring skiers who want plenty of time working on their turns. Check SilverStar’s current snow report as your trip approaches.

Getting here and choosing a package

For guests flying in, Kelowna is the airport to look at. Accommodation packages can include airport transfers and ski-in/ski-out lodging, making the week easier to organise. Check your chosen camp page for the exact meals, transfers and accommodation included, plus costs such as lift passes, flights and any meals outside the package.

Travelling on your own? You’re welcome to enquire as a solo skier. Ask us about the accommodation options available for your dates rather than assuming you need to bring someone to share.

Ready for a week of better turns?

Start with the camp that matches your current skiing—not just the one with the most exciting name. Technical Progression helps you develop your technique and confidence; Performance Elite is for advanced and expert skiers looking for a stronger performance challenge, including GS.
